Best of Both Worlds- Nebraska Tour
Band to Perform Graduation Night at C.L. Jones
by Dr. Maline
May 01, 2008
A band from Long Beach California, "Best of Both Worlds," will be releasing their debut album, and at the same time, announcing the new name of the band in a tour through Nebraska the week of May 8-10. The band will be performing across the state with stops in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, and Minden. Their CD, “Dreamin,” will include 10 original songs that promote a new pop/acoustic/rock sound. During each of their stops in Nebraska, the band will perform a two-hour show.
The band was formed in the early spring of 2007. Their sound relies on tight vocal harmonies and complementing guitar rhythms. They are based out of Southern California but all hail from across the country.
Their bassist, Marty (25), and rhythm guitarist, Blake (21), both come from Traverse City, Michigan. Brett (22), on lead guitar, comes from Minden, Nebraska, and their drummer, John, joined the group from South Jersey. The four met in “The Young Americans,” a non-profit performing arts group that is based out of Corona, California. All of the band members have performed throughout Nebraska on tours with the Young Americans.
Blake, Brett, and Marty began writing music together during their first year in the Young Americans in 2004. In 2006, all four members of the group performed in a dinner theater in Northern Michigan where their music composition continued.
In 2007, the band was started and they wrote and recorded 4
original songs that can be found on their website
myspace.com/bestofbothworlds4.
The band’s creativity continued in the fall of 2007, and they
achieved one of their goals in opening for Ernie Halter, a
well-known composer/entertainer in the Los Angeles area. Since that
opening, the band’s popularity in the Los Angeles area has
flourished, and they have played in Huntington Beach, Sunset Beach,
Long Beach, New Port Beach, Anaheim, Hollywood, and in clubs near
the Los Angeles area.
During the last 2 months the band has recorded 10 original songs. During the week leading up to their performances and CD release in Nebraska, two of the songs, “Come Back Down” and “Girl For Me” will make their radio debut on 107.7 KSYZ FM in Grand Island, Nebraska.
The band’s last stop on the tour will be in Minden, Nebraska, to honor the 2008 graduates of Minden High School, where Brett attended high school. The public is welcome to attend all of the shows where their new album will be on sale.
