Driver Your Destiny, Own Your Own Business

by Libby Holsten

May 14, 2008

Planning to be your own boss?  Already have a business going?  Sign up for "Drive Your Destiny, Own Your Own Business", a one day entrepreneur camp planned for June 23 in Holdrege.  The camp is open to all Phelps County and Kearney County high school students and will guide teams through the process of writing a business plan.

An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages a business.  Teenaged entrepreneurs can own businesses ranging from babysitting and lawn care to web-paged designers and food vendors.

The camp will be an exciting learning experience no matter whether the student already has a business idea or just wants to think about starting a business as a future goal.

Activities will be hands on, using laptops for writing and presenting the business plan.  Local business entrepreneurs will present their stories and act as mentors throughout the day.

The $10.00 registration fee covers all materials and lunch.  Registration can be done online at http://www.cccneb.edu/events or call Central Community College 308-995-8133 for forms.  Registration deadline is June 6.

The E-Camp is a project of Phelps-Kearney Partnership.  This project is funded in part by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development administered by the Nebraska Rural Devlopment Commission.
