Mission: The Minden Public Schools, with the community, strive to develop productive and responsible citizens through an environment that empowers them to seek, understand, and appreciate learning.
Goals:
- To help the student master the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic necessary for the learning process.
- To help the student attain the greatest possible confidence and understanding of himself/herself and to appreciate his/her worth as a member of society.
- To help the student understand his/her aptitude, interest, and abilities so that he/she can prepare for a vocation of his/her choice.
- To help the student acquire habits and attitudes associated with responsible citizenship.
- To help the student develop respect for different races, faiths, or values, including the ability to listen to and understand the viewpoints and behavior of others.
- To help the student prepare for a world of rapid change and unforeseeable demands in which continuing education throughout adult life should be a normal experience.
- To help the student develop a positive attitude toward all school activities and a commitment to learning.
- To help the student understand and appreciate human achievement in the natural and social sciences, humanities, and arts.
- To encourage individual expression and to provide opportunities to be creative.
- To help the student understand the conditions necessary for the maintenance of personal, physical, and emotional well being.
Note: All administration, faculty, paraprofessional staff, and the high school Student Senate overwhelmingly reaffirmed this mission statement and goals in 2003-2004.
