135 MPS students advance to State History Day competition

More than 230 MPS middle and high school students participated in the regional Minnesota History Day contest on March 22 at Franklin Middle School, where they competed in categories such as individual and group exhibits, performances, websites and documentaries.

A total of 135 students with 77 projects earned a spot at the state event on April 27 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. A big round of applause goes out to all the participants, and special congratulations to those who qualified for the state event!

Top entires at the state event will have the opportunity to compete at the National History Day contest at the University of Maryland in June.

This year, 2,656 students took part in school-level History Day projects across 11 MPS schools: Andersen, Anthony, Anwatin, Ella Baker, Franklin, Justice Page, North, Northeast, Roosevelt, Sanford and Sullivan.
