Congrats, April MPS Shines winners!

Congrats, April MPS Shines winners!

Each month, staff have an opportunity to nominate their colleagues for MPS Shines. Winners are randomly chosen from the nominations and receive recognition across MPS newsletters and social media, a coffee mug and other prizes.

Help us congratulate our April MPS Shines winners:

Said Garaad

Dr. Said Garaad, assistant principal, Edison High School

"Dr. Said is one of the most welcoming individuals at Edison. He is constantly advocating for opportunities for our students to get ahead. Whether it is attending MUID-PIE meetings, CTE field trips, or putting together showcases to feature our students' cultures. Recently, Dr. Said started spending his lunch out in the field with about 30 students playing soccer or basketball. Our students love him and he is always going above and beyond for our students."

Joshua Liesner

Josh Liesner, science teacher, Roosevelt High School

"Joshua has taken on a leadership role in piloting the new science curriculum for both Earth and Space Science (ESS) and Chemistry. He consistently shares his knowledge with colleagues and is always willing to offer support, creating a collaborative and positive environment within the team.

In addition, Joshua demonstrates a strong commitment to his students’ well-being and learning. He is thoughtful, focused, and intentional in ensuring that all students feel supported and challenged in his classroom. His dedication to both his colleagues and his students makes him truly deserving of the MPS Shine Award."

Noi Sirattanatray

Noi Sirattanatray, Educational Support Professional, Nellie Stone Johnson Elementary

“Noi establishes warm connections with her scholars. I see this each time I walk into their classroom. Noi responds to children's emotions with empathy and in a developmentally appropriate way. Noi's ability to redirect students by having clear expectations while staying warm and affirming of scholars' emotions and feelings contributes to the classroom in a very positive way. Thank you, Noi, for being here for our scholars.”
