Each month, staff have an opportunity to nominate their colleagues for MPS Shines. Winners are randomly chosen from the nominations and receive recognition across MPS newsletters and social media, a coffee mug and other prizes.

Shakur Ali, education & outreach specialist, MPS Engagement

"Shakur Ali has been doing excellent work with the CPEO (Connecting Parents to Educational Opportunities) program. He has brought new ideas and energy to this program, which has been educating our caregivers on how to navigate Minneapolis Public Schools for many years.

The first CPEO session for Afghan families recently began, and it was a huge success. For this reason, I nominate him for recognition for his excellent work." - Edgar Alfonzo

 

Katherine Gretsch, principal, Field Elementary

"Katherine has been an anchor and an elevator at Field Elementary. She came to Field during a period of change, and has provided the community with stability, growth, and celebration.

Parents feel heard and love her follow-through, she celebrates staff and their contributions, and she invests in student relationships and community.
