MPS celebrates four-year graduation rate increases

Minneapolis Public Schools is celebrating an increase in the overall four-year graduation rate for specific groups, including students who identify as American Indian with a 12-percentage point increase from 46% to 58% and students who identify as Black or African American with a 2-percentage point increase from 67% to 69%.

Edison has the largest increase since last year with a 9-percentage point increase from 69% to 78%. North continues to build on last year’s momentum with a 6-percentage point increase from 76% in 2024 to 81% in 2025. The overall 4-year graduation rate decreased by 1% from 74% to 73%; while the seven-year graduation rate remained steady at 83%.

The percentage of students continuing their high school education increased slightly from last year, and this is primarily attributable to the extra time allowed for English Language Learners and students graduating with an Individualized Education Plan. Students continuing their education will be captured in future seven-year graduation rates.
