MPS students place at State Track & Field Championships

Minneapolis Public Schools athletes delivered standout performances at the Minnesota State Track & Field Championships, highlighted by three state champions and a state runner-up relay finish.

North High School

Sayé Monibah Jr. captured the Class AA state championship in the boys 200-meter dash and finished runner-up in the 100-meter dash!

• Alexandria Hill – 3rd in long jump; 7th in triple jump
• Anthony Palmer – 4th in shot put
• Anthony Deline – 4th in triple jump
• Boys 4x100 relay (Anthony Deline, Daniel Branch, J'Marion Sanders, Sayé Monibah) – 4th

Southwest High School

Several Lakers made the podium with Logan Webster winning the Class AA girls long jump title, and Ben Schendel claiming the Class AA boys 800-meter championship!

The boys 4x400 relay team (Trasean Quarles, Keenan Moriarty, Ben Schendel, Jacob Hartman) took home a silver medal.

• Jacob Hartman – 6th in triple jump
• Annika Midness – 7th in 1600-meter run
• Annie Schendel – 9th in 800-meter run

Edison High School

• Sundjata Henderson – 9th in the Class AA 400-meter dash
• Boys track coach Robert Noel was named Class 4AA Head Coach of the Year

Washburn High School

• Hattie Anderson – 6th in the 200-meter dash
• Thomas McVay – 8th in the 3200-meter run
