MPS students take part in learning and fun at fall chess tournament
Shout out to the MPS students who made their moves in the Check It Out Chess Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Green Central Elementary School.
More than 250 students from about 40 MPS schools and homeschool students competed in the event, including 82 who were new to the tournament this year. Participants competed in five rounds of chess, totaling more than 1,200 games played throughout the day!
Washburn High School won the grade 7-12 division, with Viktor Veit taking home the individual championship for the third time in a row. Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to all who earned a top spot. View the team and individual winners below:
