Northeast’s Emmett Lawson is MPS Spelling Bee Champion
The MPS Spelling Bee Champion is Emmett Lawson, eighth grade student at Northeast Middle School. The runner-up is Iris Walding, sixth grade student from Seward Montessori.
The 36 students who competed in the districtwide event represented more than 2,800 MPS students in grades 5-8 who participated in the spelling bee program this year. In addition to the above winners, eight individual school champions qualified to compete at the Twin Cities Regional Spelling Bee.
