Pillsbury Elementary students get new kicks thanks to Operation Warm

Decisions, decisions! About 450 Pillsbury Elementary School students had some tough choices, as they got to select a new pair of sneakers and two pairs of socks when Operation Warm visited their school. Volunteers from Accenture helped every child in the school find their correct size, lace up their new kicks and try them out.

According to Operation Warm's Claire Borthwick, about two-thirds of all kids are wearing shoes that are too small. "When children have brand-new shoes that fit right, that instills confidence," she said.

Pillsbury was selected for this visit after a PTA member filled out an Operation Warm Wish List application. MPS teachers and PTA members are encouraged to apply for free coats or shoes here.
