Roosevelt Principal Ledesma named Minnesota High School Principal of the Year
The Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) has chosen Roosevelt High School Principal Christian Ledesma as 2025 MN High School Principal of the Year!
On Jan. 13, Principal Ledesma was presented with the award at a surprise ceremony in the Roosevelt media center. Ledesma will now represent Minnesota’s 455 lead principals at the national level. Congratulations, Principal Ledesma!

Christian Ledesma has served as Principal of Roosevelt High School since 2021 and as a school administrator for over eight years. With over two decades of experience in education, he has focused on advancing educational equity and academic excellence.
The son of Ecuadorian immigrants, Christian grew up speaking Spanish before learning English in New York City public schools. Throughout his career, which spans from classroom teaching in New York City to administrative leadership in Minneapolis, Ledesma has maintained an unwavering commitment to the social and academic development of every student. His innovative approaches to education have garnered national attention, including his work helping to found the first vegetarian public school lunch program at PS244 in New York. At Roosevelt High School, he has been instrumental in growing the Dual Language pathway at the high school level, creating programming that celebrates students’ cultures and promoting inclusive education practices. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Ledesma holds a Master of Science for Teachers from Pace University and completed his K-12 Principal Licensure at the University of Minnesota, bringing both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to his mission of eliminating achievement gaps.
