Senior Academic Officer Announcement
Superintendent Dr. Lisa Sayles-Adams has announced Dr. Tia Clasen will join MPS as Senior Academic Officer.
In this role, Dr. Clasen will provide leadership to the following departments: Academics; Community Education; Early Childhood; Indian Education; Multilingual and Magnets; Office of Black Student Achievement; Office of Latine Achievement; and Special Education. Of her new role in MPS, Dr. Clasen shared, "I am very excited to come back to serve my home district, where my son enjoyed his entire K-12 journey. I look forward to working with the team to ensure each student in MPS receives a world-class education and the MPS families and community are served in the greatest capacity.”
Dr. Clasen will bring more than 25 years of experience in teaching and learning to her new role. After serving as teacher and magnet school coordinator in ISD 191 (Burnsville-Eagan-Savage) for 16 years, she worked in Robbinsdale, MPS, and Richfield as a Director of Marketing and Communications, a K-12 Literacy Content lead, and a Director of Curricular Learning, respectively. Dr. Clasen currently serves as the Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning in South Washington County Schools and earned her Doctorate of Education Leadership and superintendent’s license from Hamline University.
