Southwest and Camden high school students headed to robotics world championships

Southwest High School’s Team 2129 Ultraviolet has qualified for the FIRST Robotics Championships after a strong second place finish and winning the Autonomous Award at the Great Northern Regional robotics event this month. Last weekend at the North Star Regional they received a second programming and engineering recognition, the Innovation in Control Award, and secured fourth place overall.

Team Ultraviolet is currently ranked No. 189 out of 3,690 worldwide, and No. 7 out of 189 in Minnesota! They will compete in the international FIRST Robotics Competition Championships April 16-19 in Houston, TX.

A huge congratulations to Camden junior Sean Vang, who has been named a FIRST Dean’s List Award finalist! Sean’s leadership and contributions have earned him this prestigious honor and winners will be announced at a Dean’s List Luncheon during the world championships.

In addition to Sean’s recognition, Camden’s Team 2500 received the Judges Award at the recent Great Northern competition, highlighting their unique efforts, diversity and perseverance.

At the recent North Star Regional competition, all three MPS teams – Southwest’s Team 2129, Camden’s Team 2500 and Roosevelt’s Team 2480 – made the playoffs and brought home trophies.
