MPS School Transformation is a districtwide effort to reimagine a district where every student thrives – academically, socially and emotionally – through a holistic, culturally sustaining education that engages and prepares contributing citizens.

Timeline

• In December 2023 the school board passed a resolution initiating the transformation process. 
• From 2024 - 2026, MPS reviewed parent feedback and continued engagement efforts to create the desired MPS Student Experience. Over 40,000 voices were represented in this process.
• In June 2026 the school board passed a resolution with parameters and guidance for staff to develop three options for transformation.
• On Sept. 15, MPS staff will present three options to the school board and community. The three options would impact up to 14% of students with a school or attendance boundary change. 
• Pending board action, changes could be implemented as early as the 2027-28 school year. 

What’s next?

The district will be engaging students, staff, caregivers and the broader community to gather feedback about the three options.
