Statement from board regarding DHS surge in Minneapolis

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) remains committed to providing direct support to our students, staff and families. We recognize the fear, anxiety and uncertainty that many in our community have experienced . Schools and school districts exist within communities, and what happens in the community impacts our learning environments. 

On behalf of the school board, MPS stand in support of the federal lawsuit filed on behalf of the state of Minnesota, alongside the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and related agencies and officials, asking the court to end the surge of DHS agents into the state. On behalf of our community at MPS, we’d like to thank our government partners for taking this next step.
