School Transformation

Why is MPS going through a transformation process?
MPS School Transformation is a districtwide effort to reimagine a district where every student thrives – academically, socially and emotionally – through a holistic, culturally sustaining education that engages and prepares contributing citizens.
As MPS reimagines the student experience, we are focused on ensuring that all students have access to a comprehensive academic experience that ensures MPS graduates are prepared, connected and purpose-driven. This means all students in all grades will have access to an aligned core academic experience, as defined by the Minnesota Department of Education’s (MDE) Academic Standards, with necessary individualized academic support.
A comprehensive, holistic MPS experience means every MPS student will have access to social-emotional skill development and support throughout their MPS journey, and will be able to choose beyond the core classes, experiences and opportunities, including career-connected learning, advanced academics, athletics, clubs and more.
