Joseph Carylon

Joseph Carlyon, MS, MA, is a seasoned work-based learning coordinator and special educator based in Minneapolis, MN. With over five years of teaching experience at a Minneapolis public high school and a year dedicated to coordinating work-based learning for transition-aged students (18-21), Joseph brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his role. He holds a Master of Arts in Education with an Emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorders, a Master of Science Degree in Biological Sciences, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. 
In his recent role at a Transition Plus Program, Joseph operated the Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES) lab, managed volunteer worksites, and organized career exploration experiences for students at Hennepin Technical College. His responsibilities included teaching a work-based learning course that prepared students for future employment by developing essential workplace skills.
Previously, at Camden High School (formerly Patrick Henry High School), Joseph served as a special education teacher and ASD case manager, where he taught a variety of special education courses, including science, English, and life skills. His extensive background includes supporting individuals with disabilities in various capacities, including as a special educational assistant, housing support staff, and job coach.
Joseph’s dedication to experiential learning, his expertise in special education, and his commitment to student development make him a valuable asset to the MPS community.
