Linear Algebra Course: Linear Algebra is a focused and high-support course specifically designed for students who have not yet completed or have previously struggled with their 8th-grade mathematics curriculum. This course prioritizes a positive hands-on approach, applying visual modeling and step-by-step scaffolding to explore linear equations, functions, and coordinate graphing. By empowering students to master essential skills through enriching, experiential learning that brings every concept to life in a real-world context, the program rebuilds student confidence and ensures they gain the essential algebraic fluency needed for future academic success.required

Literacy Course: This is a specialized course designed to empower students as they transition between middle school and the academic rigors of high school credit-bearing courses. By focusing on strengthening foundational reading and writing skills, participants build the confidence and proficiency necessary for success across the secondary curriculum. This course provides targeted instruction in critical analysis, complex text comprehension, and evidence-based writing, ensuring every student enters high school equipped with the strategic tools to excel in their academic journey.required

Engineering the Ride Course: Engineering the Ride provides an active fusion of physical literacy by engaging students in the skills, confidence, and knowledge for maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle and urban exploration by inviting students to master the complexities of the road bike while navigating the scenic parkways and vibrant streets of Minneapolis. Students leverage opportunities to tackle real-world maintenance and performance challenges, advancing a deep understanding of sustainable technology and its practical application for independent commuting. As students explore their community, they develop essential skills through the implementation of comprehensive safety protocols and strategic bike route planning. By viewing the bicycle as both a mechanical marvel and a primary mode of transit, students gain the confidence to lead active lives while mastering the rules of the road for safe, efficient travel.required

Urban Agriculture Course: Urban Agriculture offers an immersive exploration of sustainable food systems within the local community. Through hands-on field experiences in urban garden plots and high-tech growing spaces like Hydroponics. Students investigate the fundamental intersections of food security, soil health, and environmental stewardship. Students engage in scientific inquiry by monitoring crop cycles, analyzing nutrient management, and exploring Ag-Tech by utilizing data-driven monitoring and sustainable technologies. Aligned with state academic standards, this course empowers students to transform urban landscapes into productive ecosystems. Participants become leaders in environmental stewardship and advocates for food sovereignty within their own communities.required

Environmental STEM Course; Watershed Connections provides 9th-grade students with immersive, place-based environmental education that transforms local bodies of water into living laboratories. By engaging in field experiences such as collecting and identifying aquatic macroinvertebrates, monitoring precipitation, and analyzing taxonomic data; Fast Track Academy students evaluate water quality and investigate the critical impacts of human activity and climate change on Minnesota’s ecosystems. Aligned with State Education Standards, the program empowers students to move from scientific discovery to environmental stewardship through specialized tracks in art, science, social studies, and math, developing the knowledge and agency needed to protect local watersheds.required
