Community Data Portal
The information on this page is for community partner organizations only. For parents/caregivers who need access to Parent Portal, please contact your student's school office and visit this webpage to learn how to activate your account.
The Community Data Portal provides designated community partners with access to real-time student data such as demographics, attendance, and standardized test scores.
Partners must obtain active parent/guardian consent using the MPS Release of Information form found on this page. If you are unsure what level Release of Information your organization requires, please refer to this list.
The Community Data Portal was moved to our new student information system during summer 2023. All partner staff who need access must register for a new account.
If your organization has an existing Community Data Portal page, new staff can register for the portal using this form.
If your organization has not utilized the Community Data Portal in the past but you would like to learn more about it, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once you have received your login information, follow the steps below to access the portal:
- Please allow up to 2 weeks for students to be added to the portal. You cannot receive access to information without signed parent/guardian consent.
Please include a valid MPS student ID on consent forms.

MPS Student Data and Data Privacy
MPS takes data privacy very seriously and has policies in place that are more strict than Minnesota state law. Certified Community Partners must comply with all District policies, and state/federal laws regarding student data privacy including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Minnesota Statute Chapter 13 and The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
What is data?
MPS defines data as any information provided by the school/district (individual or aggregate student data) as well as any information that outside organizations collect directly from students/families. This includes observations, surveys, focus groups, or individual interviews. MPS does not allow Community Partners to conduct surveys or collect demographic information directly from students during the school day unless the survey has been approved through the External Research & Evaluation process (fees apply).
Read more about individual and aggregate student data here.
MPS provides Community Partners with a few standard methods to access student data at no cost. They are:
- Community Data Portal - individual student data
- Aggregate Reports - aggregate student data
- MPS Reports & Data - district-wide and school level reports on demographics, enrollment, and more
- MDE Report Cards - non-MPS source of data including demographics, student outcomes, and more for all Minnesota schools
Any additional data (including data needed for grant reports, etc) must be requested via External Data Request Form. MPS cannot share any individual student data without a signed Release of Information for each student. There is a fee of $250/hour for data requested through this process unless there is prior written agreement with REAA. You will receive a cost estimate before data work begins.
