Waste Reduction
The goal of True Food, No Waste is to reduce waste in cafeterias through operational changes and providing schools with resources to educate and engage students on waste reduction, recycling, and composting.
Recycling at school fosters life-long habits and ideas about environmental stewardship, the value of resources, and downstream impacts of waste. In the past few years, schools have implemented waste sorting stations, share tables, and empowered student Green Teams.
MPS Plant Operations: each schools’ team of custodians ensure that trash, recycling, and compost are properly managed. MPS Staff can access a list of school senior custodians on the sharepoint plant operations page.
