School Climate Student Survey
The School Climate Student Survey asks 3rd – 12th grade students about their experience in school related to their relationships with peers, relationships with adults, and self-development. The survey is conducted twice annually – once in December, and once in May – to monitor changes in students’ perceptions of school climate throughout the year. The summarized results of this survey are available to school leaders, school staff, students, and families to review and respond with potential actions.

When will the survey occur?
The next survey window will take place from May 5 – 16. Students will complete the survey online during class time. Schools will be able to request paper versions of the survey as needed.
What questions are on the survey?
Click here to view the survey questions being asked to students.
How will the data be shared?
Results of the survey will be summarized at the school and district level, broken down by grade and race/ethnicity (group sizes smaller than 5 will be suppressed to ensure data privacy). No individual student data will ever be shared or made available.
How will the data be used?
Once school results are available, Educational Equity Coordinators will assist school staff (including administrators, the Equity Team, and other building leaders) in analyzing the results, identifying patterns and trends, interpreting findings, and creating a report for all stakeholders to view.
Based on the findings, Equity Coordinators and School Improvement Specialists will work with schools to develop goals and strategies to improve the overall school climate.
Can caregivers and students opt out of the survey?
Caregivers who do not want their child participating in the survey should complete the opt out form available here and return it to their child’s school. Students’ participation in the survey is voluntary. Students can also choose to skip any items that they do not wish to answer.
