Minneapolis Public Schools has negotiated new agreements with the Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE) teacher and ESP chapters.

This agreement centers our students and honors the requests and needs of our staff, while balancing the fiscal realities our district is facing.

MFE has shared that because we have reached a tentative agreement, they will not strike.

The Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE) reached a tentative agreement with Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Nov. 8. MFE has shared that because we have reached a tentative agreement, they will not strike.

We are pleased to announce that Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) has reached a tentative contract agreement with the Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE) including both the teacher and educational support professional (ESP) chapters.

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) and the Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE) continued negotiations on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025. MPS remains committed to reaching an agreement quickly that is student-centered, fair, and that substantially addresses union and district priorities within available resources.

We want you to be aware of the latest developments in our efforts to reach a contract agreement with MFE, the bargaining group that represents our teachers, educational support professionals (ESPs) and adult education teachers. 

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) and the Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE) are aligned on values and goals for negotiations, but we do not have the resources to meet the union’s full requests. MPS remains committed to reaching an agreement quickly that works within the resources we have available and avoids a strike.
