Mediation Update

Mediation Update

MPS remains committed to reaching an agreement quickly that is student-centered, fair, and that substantially addresses union and district priorities within available resources. MPS received MFE’s intent to strike on Friday, Oct. 31, moving negotiations to a 10 day cooling off period prior to a potential strike.

District and Union negotiators were in mediation until the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 1 and will continue negotiations on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Through the mediation process, MPS offers have addressed key priority areas including reduced class sizes and caseload caps, pay parity for adult educators and significant salary and benefit enhancements for ESPs and teachers.
