April 17, 2025 - Session 1 Summary
During the first season, MFT presented their first six proposals which include the following:
Union Proposal 1: Increasing the number of union days - This proposal advocates for adding an additional 50 union business days per chapter.
Union Proposal 2: Strengthening logistical support for immigrant members- This proposal advocates for increasing training and technical support for new-to-country teachers.
Union Proposal 3: LGBTQIA2S+ rights - This proposal advocates for codifying elements of the district’s gender inclusion policy into the MFT contract focusing on names, pronouns and facilities access.
Union Proposal 4: Labor Management and Joint Training - This proposal advocates for dedicated training for union stewards and administrators around MFT contract interpretation and administration.
Union Proposal 5: Proposed a committee to address staff retention - This proposal advocates for a new committee that would convene to address high turnover at specific sites.
Union Proposal 6: Creating an Enrollment Labor Management Committee - This proposal advocates for a new joint committee that would focus on increasing enrollment.
