Site Work & Parking Lot Maintenance – District Wide

Scope of Work

The school sites listed below summarizes work either completed or planned for in the future. Site work includes maintenance or upgrades on parking lots, loading docks, sidewalks, retaining walls, erosion control, and/or courtyard work.

Andersen: Potential work for 2027 to redo the drive lane on south side of the south.  Work is pending approval from City of Minneapolis for shared road/parking area.   Staff remote parking lots tentative to be sealcoated 2029.

Anthony Middle School: Summer 2025, south parking lot completely redone, north parking lot partially redone with added landscaping curbing. New trash enclosure constructed, and drive lane seal-coated.

Anwatin -Bryn Mawr: 2019 complete parking lot reclaimed.  2020 bus path between Anwatin and Upton Ave reclaimed.  See attached plans. Sealcoating pending for 2029

Armatage: Summer 2024, loading dock drive lane completely redone. North parking lot at main entrance patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

Barton: Summer 2024, north parking lots work done. Upper lot patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed. Lower lot completely redone, including rock swale to handle drainage from upper lot, and valley gutter system to channel water to City storm sewer system.

Bethune: Sealcoating pending for 2029

Burroughs: Potential work pending for 2027 including crackfill and sealcoat main parking lot and bituminous path on south side of building.

Camden: Summer 2026, Camden north parking lot crack filled and chip sealed, with some minor patching.  Some concrete repair work to also completed to fix sidewalks around building, including concrete pad at loading dock area. See attached site plan. 

Camden Field: Summer 2027, potential work to Camden field north parking – west end to be reclaimed and replaced.

Cityview: Work pending for 2029.

Davis Center: No work to parking lot planned as Blue Line construction anticipated to start soon.

Dowling: Summer 2024, north parking lot at main entrance completely redone, including new layout for bus turn-around area and sidewalk separating bus area from visitor parking area. Summer 2023, asphalt repairs were completed behind building where old construction trailer had been stored. Dowling paths to community garden area to be repaved 2027.

Dowling Community Garden: Summer 2027, potential work to improve paths in community garden area and forest area on south side of school. 

Edison: Work pending for 2029.

Ella Baker: 2019 parking lots completely redone. Seal-coating pending for 2027.

Emerson: Summer 2026, major work completed on  entire parking lot, including removing and replacing, including playground area sealcoated.  See attached site plan.

Field: 2023 renovations completed.

Folwell: Summer 2024, erosion at south playground area corrected, including new parking lot area completely regraded and repaved. Retaining wall is constructed along west curb of playground area to control erosion into rain garden area. New stairway on north side of rain garden was reconstructed.

Franklin: Tentative summer 20276, Franklin’s north parking lots to be completely removed and replaced, including subgrade materials.  South and west parking lots  crack filled and chip sealed in 2026. See attached site plan.

Green Central: Sealcoating work pending for 2029.

Hale: Work pending for 2027 including complete renovation of NW parking lot and seal coating play areas, fixing cracked sidewalks, and bituminous between curbs and sidewalks.

Hall: 2025 complete renovation of parking lot completed.

Hiawatha: Summer 2026 major renovations completed to SW parking lot, “U” area and along sidewalks.  Included new pavement for path on north side of property to park & rec building. See attached site plan.

Hmong Academy (Jordan Park): Summer 2023, north parking lot was completely redone, including subgrade. South parking lot was patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

Howe: Work pending for 2027 including seal coating parking lot, fixing cracked driveway apron, and sidewalk repairs.

Jenny Lind: Summer 2023, northeast parking lot completely redone. West parking lot was patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

Justice Page: Partial replacement of parking lot done in 2022 by new entrance. 2020 seal coated. Sealcoating work pending for 2029.

Keewaydin: Summer 2025, new retaining wall on south side by Door #2 and playground area erosion control completed. 2025 Courtyard completely redone including new drain tile system and plantings. Summer 2024, retaining wall and water detention area was constructed to handle erosion at main entrance area.

Kenwood: Summer 2024, north parking lot at Main Entrance patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed. South parking lot completely redone, including 30-foot-long section of retaining wall reconstructed.

Lake Harriet Lower: 2014 repaved. Sealcoating work pending for 2029.

Lake Harriet Upper: Tentative work Summer 2027 including parking lot seal coating planned, including playground area and fixing stairs by Door 14.  West loading dock area to be potentially removed and replaced.  Potential sidewalk repairs around entire perimeter of property.

Las Estrellas: Summer 2023, east parking lot and half of west parking lot was completely redone, including new concrete wheel stops. Bituminous between sidewalks and curbing was removed and replaced. North parking lot was patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

Longfellow: Potential work planned for summer 2027  including south parking lot to be moved and replaced.  Potential sidewalk repairs around entire perimeter of property.

Loring: 2020 north parking lot repaved. Sealcoating planned for 2029.

Lucy Laney: Summer 2024, north parking lot and west loading dock driveway completely redone. South parking lot patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

Lyndale: Summer 2019 parking lot seal coated and major sidewalk and cub repairs done. Sealcoating potentially planned for 2029.

Marcy: Summer 2019 parking lot repaved. Sealcoating planned for 2028

Maintenance & Operations Center: Spring 2024, east, west, and south parking lots completely redone, including new parking lot lighting and preparations for future EV Charging Stations.  2025 new loading dock concrete work completed.

Nellie Stone Johnson: Summer 2023, north parking lot was completely redone, including subgrade. South parking lot was patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

North HS: Parking lot work on hold for completion of CTE project. Field area had asphalt under bleachers redone in 2020.

Northeast MS: Major work pending for 2027 including removal and replacement of south parking lot, and partial replacement of north parking lot.  Bus drop area on SE side of property to be sealcoated.  Potential sidewalk repairs around entire perimeter of property.

Northrop/Ericsson: Summer 2025 work completed on west side of building between curbs & sidewalks, and sidewalk replacements.

Nutrition Center: Summer 2025, south and west parking lots replaced including concrete swale for drainage. East lot sealcoated.  Pending work for 2027 includes some sidewalk repairs and replacement along perimeter of property.

Olson MS: Summer 2023, north parking lot and half of west parking lot were completely redone. South parking lot was patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

Pillsbury: 2019 dumpster area redone. Potential work planned for 2027 include fixing cracked concrete driveway apron on south side of school, and seal coating east parking lot across street.

Pratt: West parking lot was seal coated in 2020. West parking lot scheduled for replacement in 2028, including fixing cracked sidewalks.

Riverbend: Summer 2026, north drive lane in front of main entrance on north side of Riverbend school to be removed and replaced.  West drive lane  crack filled and chip sealed.  Southeast bus lane  removed and replaced with heavy duty pavement.  Some concrete sidewalks around building to be removed and replaced.  See attached site plan.

Roosevelt: Summer 2024, east parking lots patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed. Work also included sidewalk repairs along east and north sides of building.  Potential work for summer 2027 includes some retaining wall repairs by main entrance Door #1 and SE door #5.  Potential door stoop repairs at Door #19.

Sanford: Summer 2025 parking lot sealcoated.

Seward: Summer 2019, playground area sealcoated.

South HS: Summer 2025, south lot completely replaced and east lot sealcoated.

Southwest HS: Major parking lot work needed, and door 6 stoop needed. On hold for  completion of new roof, mechanical system and chiller work scheduled to be completed 2030.

Sullivan:Pending work for 2027 includes seal coating entire parking lot and replacement of playground area. Summer 2019, parking lot is completely redone except for the playground area.

Transition Plus: Summer 2023, parking garage was swept and power washed. Summer 2018, south parking lot was patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed.

Transportation:   Summer 2026 completed removal and replacement of existing pavement at Transportation, south end only of main lot, east parking lot, and new concrete drive lane on east side of building.   See attached site plan. Potential 2027 work includes removal and replacement of north side of main parking lot (pending replacement of fuel tank systems) and lower west parking lot to be removed and replaced.  Also, north parking lot and sidewalk repairs pending for 2027.

Waite Park: Summer 2023, south parking lot was completely redone. North parking lot was patched, crack-filled, chip-sealed, and fog-sealed. Playground area was seal-coated.

Washburn HS: Summer 2026, north parking lot sealcoated, chip sealed, and fogsealed.  South parking lot was completely removed and replaced, including subgrade corrections.  New concrete stairs poured on north side of building.  New paved sidewalk to main entrance on south side of building.  See attached site plan.

Webster: Work pending for 2028 including sealcoating parking lots and fixing cracked driveway apron.

Wenonah: Summer 2026 crack filled, chip sealed, and fog sealed south, north, and east parking lots.  Included removal and replacement of asphalt by loading dock with heavy duty asphalt and concrete swale.  Repairs to fix sidewalks around perimeter of property, including truncated domes at intersections also completed.  See attached site plan.

Whittier: Summer 2024, corrections to existing retaining walls on south side of building completed, including some perimeter sidewalk repairs.

Wilder: Parking lots sealcoated in 2020. New building addition completed 2026.  Potential seal coating of west parking lot and perimeter sidewalk repairs tentative for 2028.

Windom: Summer 2025, parking lots crackfilled, chip sealed, and fog sealed. Some perimeter sidewalk repairs were also completed.
