Wilder Complex Safe & Welcoming Entrance

Wilder High School is scheduled to undergo a significant renovation and is outlined below.  To receive periodic updates on project milestones and other news, please sign up to receive E-alerts.

Scope of Work

Small addition and enhancement of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Complex to accommodate new safe & welcoming entrance on SW corner of building at Door #1.  This project also includes the filling of the exterior sunken courtyard to help make a safer and accessible entrance for all students and visitors to any of the 9 programs at the Wilder Complex.

Project Updates

2026

June-

Project has been completed.

April-

Exterior landscape work, including final grading and plantings, scheduled to be completed Spring 2026 (weather permitting). There will also be some additional structural work done on the exterior area above Door #24 to fix water intrusion issues.

March-

Close-out phase. Exterior work to be completed Spring 2026 include landscaping and downspouts/gutters for auditorium roof repairs.

January -

Grand Opening for New Entrance moved to January 20th when elevator work will be completed.

 

2025

December-

Grand Opening for New Door #1 Entrance planned for January 5, 2026.  Contractor will continue to work on minor punchlist items and repairing a structural issue on the roof above existing auditorium.  Upgrades to Wilder Elevators planned for end of December, beginning of January 2026.

September-

Over the summer, construction crews worked hard to renovate the old south side family center into the new main entrance suite and health office.  The ceiling in the auditorium was also fixed as it was sagging.  Renovations include new unisex toilets for visitors as they enter the building. 

The new safe & welcoming entrance will be on the SW corner of the building, including a new monument sign. Work is still underway on the new exterior addition and fixing the exterior portion of the auditorium roof.   If weather cooperates, the new entrance will be open by late October, 2025.

April-

Multiple bids were received on 3/13/25 and project cost is within budget.

Add Alternate for Monument Sign will be accepted.

Project to be awarded to Maertens-Brenny Construction pending MPS Formal Board Approval on 4/15/2025.

February-

Project is in bid phase.
